Palaces throughout Seoul capture the color and imagination of people within the Joseon Dynasty, spanning about 600 years. Her is one view within Changdeokgung, a second home built in 1405 for King Taejong.
This was a less formal, more artsy palace, constructed on the base of a mountain, buildings positioned naturally, taking into consideration geographical features of the slope.
Changdeokgung is people friendly. A foreign troubadour strums on a guitar. A young family dressed in traditional costume, capture pictures their young son for future generations. In Spring, people stroll midst cherry blossoms and magenta azaleas.
